ITINERARY STARTING ON MONDAY

Day 1 Monday:
Monday: Transfer Airport / Hotel
Day 2 Tuesday:
Tuesday: Breakfast. Excursion to Otavalo Market
Depart from Quito through the Pan-American North Highway via Cayambe. Brief stop at Guachalá (old equatorial monument). Passengers will have the opportunity to taste the delicious "Bizcochos de Cayambe", a type of cracker or bread baked in a clay oven (greatly paired with local cheese or caramel sauce). Afterwards, we will make a brief stop at "Miralago", to admire a wonderful view of Lago San Pablo, amazing views. The tour then continues to Otavalo where Otavaleños (natives) set up a market in which a bartering manner of shopping is taken place. The market hosts a variety of different handcrafted items. Passengers may choose between staying longer in Otavalo or go to visit to the leather shops at Cotacachi. Return to Quito picking up passengers in Otavalo (spot determined by Gray Line Guide), via the Cajas-Tabacundo road.
** Bus will wait for 10 minutes in Otavalo to pick up passangers that stayed there, after that will return to Quito with passengers that are on board.
Day 3 Wednesday:
Wednesday: Breakfast. Quito City Explorer (1 day pass), Equatorial Monument
Touristic route along the most important areas of the city, shopping centers and Zona Rosa "La Mariscal" (bars and restaurants), where most of the hotels in Quito are located. Continue towards the historic center to visit its churches and major landmarks, explore each of its corners at your own pace from the door of your hotel , enjoying deeply those topics that are of interest: music, architecture, living cultures, gastronomy, handicrafts, photography, shopping, watching tourist attractions and unique landscapes, but above all, feel the local vibe and flavor of our unique city. Extension included continues towards the northern part of the city heading up to the "Middle of the World City" (entrance is included) where the monument that divides the Northern from the Southern Hemisphere will be observed. It was built during the XVII century when a French Expedition defined the precise location of the equatorial line. At the end, optional visit either to Intiñan or Ethnographic Museum (entrance is not included).

Day 4 Thursday:
Thursday: Breakfast. Excursion to Cotopaxi National Park.
Departure by bus early in the morning to the "Chimbacalle" train station, south of Quito where we will board the train in the route Chimbacalle-Machachi (operates from Thursday to Sunday), this trip takes around 1h45min and offers beautiful scenery and various ecosystems, it is a clear sign of the majesty of the Andes. From Machachi we take our bus to head to the Cotopaxi National Park. Here we will stop at the Limpiopungo Lagoon for an interesting walk, and if time permits, we will reach the the forest of chuquirahuas at 4200 msnm.

Free time for lunch and In the afternoon visit Museum of the Park and take a short hike to observe a magnificent view of the volcano (if the weather permits).

Not included: entrance to Cotopaxi National Park. Lunch.

Departure by bus early in the morning to the "Chimbacalle" train station, south of Quito where we will board the train in the route Chimbacalle-Machachi (operates from Thursday to Sunday), this trip takes around 1h45min and offers beautiful scenery and various ecosystems, it is a clear sign of the majesty of the Andes. From Machachi we take our bus to head to the Cotopaxi National Park. Here we will stop at the Limpiopungo Lagoon for an interesting walk, and if time permits, we will reach the the forest of chuquirahuas at 4200 msnm.

THE CITY OF QUITO AND MIDDLE THE WORLDThe first stop after picking up at selected hotels, is the the “Panecillo”, a wonderful viewpoint which allows to see a sight of colonial and modern Quito.

At the colonial district, the “PLaza de la Independencia”, visit and walking to the Cathedral church, Government and Archbishop Palace, the Church of the Company where you can appreciate its adornments and gold altars.

The San Francisco Church which has been built in the seventeenth century

The Middle of the World where you will visit the monument that divides the northern & southern hemispheres, built in the XVII century when a French Expedition defined the precise location of the line that divides the world

THE OTAVALO MARKET

THE OTAVALO MARKETOn the way to the market, you will stop at Calderon, a town where the famous masapan dolls are made, Cayambe to admire and take pictures of the beautiful landscape and snow capped mountains of the zone, crossing the equatorial line at Cayambe . “Mira Lago” to take pictures of the beautiful San Pablo Lake.

Otavalo, here the Otavaleños (natives) set up a market in which a bartering manner of shopping is taken place. The market hosts a variety of different handcrafted items.

Leather stores at Cotacachi will also be visited.

COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK

COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK Train Ride is one of the attractions of this excursion, where a picturesque ride along the route Quito/Machachi will be enjoyed (train ride takes aprox 1h45min). From Machachi we´ll continue by bus until arrive to the impressive “Cotopaxi” , an active volcano of 5.897-m-high. During our stay at the National Park we will visit its museum, the natural environment of the place, its animals and plants, stop at the Limpiopungo lagoon. A typical hacienda will be also visited
